Looking for the ultimate ski season? The 25/26 Ikon Pass is one of those ski industry MUST-HAVE that unlock access to over 60 world-class resorts across 11 countries, offering unlimited skiing, flexible pass options, and exclusive perks like their signature ‘First Tracks’.
But here’s the catch – you can get your Ikon Pass through our partner, Mogul Ski World, with exclusive early access, discounts, and extra perks beyond the standard pass.
Just make sure you try to tick off one resort on every continent, like our writer Brian Thacker:
“Wow! Twenty-nine!” I actually said that aloud when I looked at the Ikon Pass website and tallied up how many Ikon Pass resorts I’d been to. I was researching this article about the launch of the new 25/26 Ikon Pass, and just out of interest, I wanted to see how many Ikon resorts I’d skied at. It might sound impressive, but I haven’t even skied half of the 60+ resorts in 11 countries across five continents which makes the Ikon Pass the snow lover’s absolute Golden Ticket.
The 25/26 Ikon Pass is on sale now, and not only are they at the lowest prices of the year, but you also get four ski seasons for the price of one. Your pass will be valid for the remainder of the current northern winter season, where the snow is still coming down by the shedload in North America. Many resorts, including Palisades Tahoe, Alta, Jackson Hole, Big Sky and Revelstoke, have already had well over a metre of fresh pow in March. And don’t worry, you have plenty of time - Mammoth didn’t close until May 27th last season (and not until August in 2023!). And how’s this - you also get two winter seasons (2025 and 2026) at your favourite Aussie resorts, Mt Buller and Thredbo, as well as Remarkables, Coronet Peak and Mt. Hutt in New Zealand.
After you’ve hit up Mt Buller, Thredbo or the Remarkables for the winter, you won’t even have time to pack away your snow gear before it’s time to head north again – where some of the resorts will have got even bigger. Deer Valley in Utah will open Phase 2 of the biggest extension of a U.S. ski resort in history. The resort will more than double its skiable acres across four peaks adding 1,500 hectares, 80 new runs, 16 lifts (including a 10-person gondola), and a new village, Deer Valley East, has broken ground and will provide its own lodging, etc over the next few years. Steamboat is going "Full Steam Ahead" with the completion of the new Greenhorn Ranch teaching area, the new Wild Blue Gondola, the improved base area and 650 acres of new expert terrain.
If you plan to head to more than one resort or ski more than seven days in a season, then getting the Ikon Pass is a no-brainer. Not only do you get access to over 60 resorts worldwide, but the new Peak Perks program adds even more value.
Ikon Pass holders get up to 15 percent off food, drinks, and retail at select resorts, plus extras like complimentary bike park tickets and discounts on heli-skiing adventures.
But here’s where buying through Mogul Ski World takes it to the next level. Not only do you get early access to purchase the Ikon Pass before anyone else, but you also unlock exclusive savings and perks, including:
With all these benefits, the real question is: where to go first?
There are quite a few Ikon Pass resorts that make my favourites-of-all-time list, but here’s my pick of my favourite lesser-known resorts that I’ve skied at from each continent…
NORTH AMERICA
TAOS, NEW MEXICO
Isn’t New Mexico a desert? Well, a lot of it is, but it also has the Rockies and Taos ski resort has some of the best skiing in the Southwest and gets over 800 centimetres of dry powdery snow and 300 days of turquoise skies a year. But it’s also worth going just for the food. Mountain hut grub doesn’t come much better than a jumbo bison bratwurst with a litre mug of German beer at the Tyrolean-styled Bavarian or the state’s famous Green Chili Cheeseburger, which you can find everywhere.
SOUTH AMERICA
VALLE NEVADO, CHILE
Now this is how to do a hot tub at the snow. The pool-sized hot tub that graces the deck of Puerta del Sol, overlooking the Valle Nevado valley (at Chile’s largest ski resort) becomes a hot tub party every afternoon. Skiers and snowboarders soak in the tub drinking pisco sours while listening to a D.J. and watching the sunset over the Andes. After a few drinks they even set up a volleyball net in the hot tub, which is just as much fun to watch as it is to partake.
EUROPE
CORTINA D’AMPEZZO, ITALY
You could probably ski the whole season at Cortina’s surrounding twelve ski resorts and not do every run. Cortina d’Ampezzo is part of the Dolomiti Superski Pass (the largest ski area in the world), which gives you access to a staggering 450 lifts, 887 runs and over 1,200 kilometres of slopes. You’ll need to ski hard to get in all those runs, but also to burn off all that pasta, pizza and tiramisu while trying out the 400 on-mountain huts.
OCEANIA
THE REMARKABLES, NEW ZEALAND
You know that runs are steep when they have names like Elevator and Escalator. For years I trudged up a lung-busting steep ascent in the Remarkables’ Saddle Basin to access these fun and challenging north-facing chutes, but the new high-speed four-seater Shadow Basin Chairlift (opened in 2024) now makes that slog just a short bootpack. That’s worth the price of admission alone.
ASIA
ARAI MOUNTAIN RESORT, JAPAN
They sometimes get so much snow at Arai Mountain Resort (near Nagano) that some of the tree skiing isn’t tree skiing anymore because the trees get covered in snow. There is only one hotel at the base, but it has everything you need with lots of dining options, lounge bars, a children's playroom, onsen baths, an indoor swimming pool, a gymnasium, and - what I think should be standard in every ski hotel - a karaoke room.
So after deciding where to ski, the next step is ensuring you’re getting the best deal, best price and the most exclusive value.
