Get that Swiss Dining Experience ... in Vail?

It’s the pale pine interiors punctuated by pops of red. That and the Swiss flags hanging from the wall sconces around the room. You could bein Switzerland, except that you’re 8,000 kilometres away in Vail.

Swiss Chalet, part of the boutique Sonnenalp resort hotel, is the place to be if you want to experience some Euro charm on the US slopes. Here, you can tuck into all the classics. Of course, there’s schnitzel andfondue, but you can also tuck into käsespätzle (homemade dumplings with threecheeses, diced tomatoes and fried onions), bratwurst served wit sauerkraut andpretzel bites, and zwiebelsuppe (onion soup with gruyere). This is food to warm your heart and your belly.

If you’re a wine lover, there’s definitely something here to make you smile. The wine list has won awards from Wine Spectator numerous times. There are more than a thousand bottles to choose from, but if it all seems too much, just ask for a recommendation.
