Capture Your Best Moves with the DJI Neo drone

There’s a new way to capture your big moves on the slopes or the big sky the next time you climb a mountain. If you’ve always admired others’ drone footage but considered it too much of a palaver to worry about yourself, consider the DJI Neo.

Here’s to tiny drones

The DJI Neo weighs just 135 grams and get this … You don’t even need a remote control, so you can just pop it in your backpack and take it anywhere you go. Plus, this drone – the lightest and most compact from DJI to date – is launched from and landed on the palm of your hand. Use it in QuickShots mode or record a 4K ultra-stabilised video.

Push a button and off she goes

Simply a press the drone’s mode button, select your shooting mode and off it goes. The Neo uses a new AI algorithm, so you give it a subject and it follows that person within the frame. Which makes it perfect for capturing you as your rocket down a slope. Just set it to Dronie mode and it flies backwards and ascends, staying locked on you to record a video.

That’s just one option. There are five others, including rocket (the drone ascends straight up with the camera pointing down) and boomerang (the drone flies around the subject in an oval, ascending as it flies away and descending on the way back).

Where’s the remote?

Although the DJI Neo can be used without a remote, you can pair it with the DJI Fly app on your phone and other remote controllers for increased flight and camera control. Teamed with a wifi signal and smartphone, you can control it from up to 50 metres away.

Me? Stable? You bet

Now for the technical stuff. DJI Neo has a single-axis mechanical gimbal. That means it can handle high speeds, loads of manoeuvres and level four wind conditions. It has 22GB of storage, and can save up to 40 minutes of4K/30fps video or 55 minutes of 1080p/60fps video. Need to get your footage off the drone? Forget about cables, because with wifi you can transfer it straight to your DJI Fly app. The Neo also supports automatic return home, so if you’re wondering where it got to, you’re covered.

Take it everywhere

Even if you’ve never shot drone footage before, you’ll want to take DJI Neo on your next adventure. It’s great for capturing backcountry skiing, mountain climbing, hiking, mountain biking, freestyle flips and tricks on a snowboard and just about anything else mountain related.

The DJI Neo retails for $299. The DJI Neo Fly More Combo, which includes an RC-N3 remote controller for better flight control and camera movement, costs $539.
